The red lantern always means happiness and prosperity for China. The warm red light promises safety and security. Every red lantern is a place of longing.

During traditional Chinese festivals, red lanterns are hung across the country throughout China, especially the Spring Festival, Lantern Festival and National Day.

The first lanterns were made of bamboo sticks and thin paper. They were closed at the top and open at the bottom. A piece of cloth soaked in petroleum was attached to a small structure and set on fire. Today they usually consist of a framework of thin metal and are covered with paper or felt. The lighting consists of a candle or a battery-operated lamp.

Confucius - Latinized from Kong Fuzi - was a Chinese philosopher during the Eastern Zhou Dynasty. He probably lived from 551 BC to 479 BC and was born under the name Kong Qiu (孔丘, Kǒng Qiū, K’ung Ch’iu) in the city of Qufu in the Chinese state of Lu (today's Shandong province), where he also died.

As the strongest animal of the 12 Chinese zodiac signs, known as "the good helper" in Chinese farming, the Ox is a symbol of diligence, strength, honesty, down-to-earth persistence, and wealth.

The zodiac sign Ox occupies the second position in the Chinese Zodiac. An Ox year occurs every 12 years.

Currently, the most relevant years of the Ox include 2033, 2021, 2009, 1997, 1985, 1973, 1961, 1949, and 1937.

While the famous sculpture "Charging Bull" by Arturo Di Modica has often been associated with keywords like success, power or strength, the sculpture actually has been a subject of criticism from an anti-capitalist perspective, such as in the Occupy Wall Street protests of 2011, and has also been compared to the biblical golden calf worshiped by the Israelites shortly after their Exodus from Egypt.

The sculpture in New York City has been a frequent target of vandalism in the past. In 2010, a similar Charging Bull sculpture by Di Modica was installed in Shanghai on commission by the Shanghai city authority; it is informally called the "Bund Bull".

Material:

Chinese often call an old tree whose wood is used for furniture shen mu 神木, tree of the gods. They admire not only the age of the wood, but also the skill of a craftsman. Hard wood with a fine grain is preferred by the carpenter. It is often fragrant woods such as sandalwood or camphor.

The Chinese names of the wood used do not always reflect the actual type of wood, because for the Chinese the color and the scent of the wood play a major role and not the name of the tree. So we find strange names like "chicken wing wood" or "mandarin duck wood". These woods, which belong to the "Ormosia family", are botanically hardly identifiable; there are over 60 varieties in China alone.

Emerged from the Jin dynasty, the Qing dynasty was the last imperial dynasty in Chinese history. It was officially proclaimed in 1636 in Manchuria. The dynasty lasted until 1912 when it was overthrown in the Xinhai Revolution.

In Chinese historiography, the Qing dynasty was preceded by the Ming dynasty and succeeded by the Republic of China. The multiethnic Qing dynasty lasted for almost three centuries and assembled the territorial base for modern China. It was the largest imperial dynasty in the history of China.
