DESCRIPTION

The painting is inspired by Icarus.

Referencing the Greek mythological god of the same name, this respelling means “the one who reaches the sky.”

As the story goes, Icarus flew too close to the sun with wings made from feathers, thread, and beeswax, and they melted, causing Icarus to plunge into the sea and drown. This myth brought about the popular idiom of “flying too close to the sun.”

I continued the blue and red spots, which turned into a series.

Hemoglobin, or Haemoglobin, is a protein inside red blood cells that carries oxygen from the lungs to tissues and organs in the body and carries carbon dioxide back to the lungs.

"Sangre Azul" means "blue blood". A Blue blood is an aristocrat. Blue bloods come from privileged, noble families that are wealthy and powerful.
